‘Coffee with Finch’ series

Finch’s Mission is to support the world in having their best lives, and Finch’s Vision is to create tools that leave the world a better place than we found.

With that in mind, we are looking to interact with our local communities in every way we can.

We realized long ago that nothing beats the satisfaction of one-on-one interactions. And that is one of the reasons we set up the Coffee with Finch Series. It turns out, we were right.

Coffee with Finch are short events, held live at a pre-determined location or facility and simulcasted online through our Amphitheater page and our Social media channels. We have had a great time educating the community, having held 2 Coffee with Finch Events to date, with more in the queue, and each was better than the previous. You can register to any of the posted events HERE.

We teach and we learn.

The first 2 were located at Rehab Point Physical Therapy, as the next coming November 19th, 2022 will be. Following that one, there will be 2 located at the Clubhouses of 2 different local Florida Communities. These are private to those residents, and therefore not posted on our Events page.

Anyone interested in hosting a Coffee with Finch event in their community is encouraged to reach out to us so we can make it happen.

HERE is the page to request to host a Coffee with Finch.

In these events, we discuss each time one specific test accepted according to the standards of clinical practice or published in a respected peer-reviewed journal. These tests are selected for being practical, simple to self-apply at home, and mostly because they provide critical insight into one facet or another of a person’s health or well-being. These are the tests that, for example, indicate the quality of one’s equilibrium, strength, the likelihood of future falls, and much more.

Shortly after each event, we will write a new blog with the test we discussed so that folks can refer to it for future reference.

We take the opportunity at the end of every Coffee with Finch to chat with the folks that came to physically join us for actual coffee. At those times we answer questions about the test introduced, about Apple’s HealthKit and how to properly set it up, and help folks set up their Apple Watches to best serve them. We also present what’s coming when Finch comes live in 2023.

You could perhaps assume that these tests are what Finch will be calculating. That Finch will be “testing” you. And you’d be wrong. While these tests are the best [and only] way for now to determine such things as frailty, likelihood of future falls, longevity etc, they are quite flawed in their analog way of being. But they are all the community has.

Until now.

Finch takes a dive into the immense sea of data that our motion and other physiological data points produce, and are capture by the Apple Watch sensors to have a much more through picture of one’s well-being and state of health. And communicates it to the user. It shares information only at the request of the user. And prompts the user to address what needs addressing.

All while being non-intrusive: Install it to your Apple Watch.

Run it once.

Done.

It stays at work for you. You don’t even have to go check on it after that.

In the next blog: The 10 seconds one-legged standing test.

Stay tuned.

The Finch Team.
